Additionally, the Hang Seng is mirroring the performance of mainland Chinese equities, which have also been in decline for a third day. This downturn is attributed to a Bloomberg News report suggesting that regulators are planning measures to temper the Chinese markets. However, the negative trend was somewhat alleviated by private survey data, indicating that Hong Kong's private sector expanded in August for the first time since January, driven by steadying domestic demand. In a separate development, U.S. Federal Reserve officials, including Governor Christopher Waller, have hinted at possible interest rate reductions in the upcoming months. On the corporate front, BYD Co. saw a 2.3% decrease in its stock value after announcing a reduction in its annual sales forecast by up to 16%, setting the target at 4.6 million vehicles. Other notable declines included Horizon Robotics, which fell by 6.0%, China Hongqiao Group dropped 5.5%, SMIC declined by 4.1%, and Pop Mart International experienced a 1.8% decrease.
