In November 2025, the United Kingdom experienced a robust increase in industrial production, which rose by 1.1% on a month-to-month basis. This growth surpassed market forecasts, which anticipated only a 0.1% rise, although there was a slight decrease from the previous month's upwardly revised peak of 1.3% over the prior eight months. Despite this overall growth, declines were observed in specific sectors: mining and quarrying fell by 2.5% compared to a 4.4% increase in October; the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector dipped by 0.5%, down from a 4.1% rise; and the water supply, sewerage, and waste management sector decreased by 0.6% after a 1.4% increase. Conversely, manufacturing output saw a notable climb, rising to 2.1% from 0.4% the previous month. This was partly fueled by a rebound in production at Jaguar Land Rover following a cyberattack that had previously dampened output earlier in the autumn. Significant gains were also recorded in the manufacture of transport equipment, which surged to 10.7% from 3.9%, and in basic metals and metal products, which increased by 2.5% compared to 0.3%. On a year-over-year basis, industrial production jumped by 2.3% from an upwardly revised 0.4% gain in the previous month, defying market predictions of a 0.4% decline. This represents the most substantial annual increase since June 2021.
